Tjitske van Tol
Year 5/6 teacher in Room 2
This will be my first year at Takapuna Primary School and I am very excited about working here. When I came to visit the school last year, I had a great feeling about the school and since then, all the staff have been very warm and welcoming. I returned to New Zealand in November last year after working as a Classroom Teacher and Music Specialist in London for 4 years. I aim to provide children with an exciting and vibrant learning environment where they are encouraged to be active and engaged learners. Before completing my Graduate Teaching Diploma I spent 4 years doing a music degree at Victoria University. My specialist instrument is the cello but I do love to sing, play guitar and I have also started learning piano. I worked as a swimming instructor whilst at university so I am really looking forward to getting involved in swimming related activities. This year I will be contributing to music around the school, helping out with the school choir, teaching recorder and taking whole school singing practices with Melissa Grant. Outside of school I enjoy playing badminton, eating and cooking good food and socialising with friends.
